The Soldiers' Stories
|
Since 1982, four Israeli soldiers have been taken captive in Lebanon, who have yet to return from captivity. All of the men are known to have been captured alive.
Over the years there has been a steady flow of information indicating that the Missing In Action (MIA) soldiers are alive, and being held as hostages under the control of Syria and Iran, in contravention of the Geneva Convention on Prisoners of War (POW), international human rights norms, and international law. During all the years that these soldiers have been missing in action, a great deal of evidence as to their situation has leaked to Western governments, intelligence agencies, and the media. The International Coalition for Missing Israeli Soldiers has worked tirelessly on behalf of these men and their families. By keeping the issue of the soldiers' fate high profile in the media and in the governments of Europe, the United States, and Israel, we are ensuring that these men, who have been held hostage for more than a decade, are not forgotten, and that those persons, groups and governments responsible for their fate are held accountable. |
